The reason is that due to the pandemic, companies have tried to cut costs and are now using different rubber. They use a different material, which makes the balls on average 30-60% slower than before the pandemic.
It seems to me that this is not the case with just one company: in general, the balls have become much worse and slower. They lose their properties much faster.
I liked Dunlop balls because when they were new they went really fast and then just got bigger. When they increased, they still flew well because the air did not escape and the pressure remained the same. The ball just fluffed up.
And now the material does not hold air. The ball not only fluffs up: the pressure in it drops sharply.
This is why many players now have problems with their elbows and wrists. This was not the case 10-15 years ago.
